Hello again guys!! It's been a few weeks since my last entry blog, so finally! What with my brother's event and all the post event things to do, wrap up and sort out, now I'm finally able to post the first entry of June! With a ton of photos and food I've piled up during the vacuum, I'm gonna try to post as many as I can. So, since this is the holy Ramadhan month, I bet a lot of us Indonesians are constantly on the lookout for a nice place to break the fast with friends, families, colleagues, etc. Now, what if I tell you, that during this month, one of my favourite restaurants in town is having special charity menus at special price? It's Akira Back Gives Back program, in collaboration with Shout Out Indonesia (instagram @Shout.Out_ID).
Shout Out Indonesia is a local sociopreneur organization that nurtures underprivileged Indonesian youths. So for this #AkiraBackGivesBack program, guests could order one of the 2 set courses (lunch / breakfasting) and enjoy the legendary quality of food served at Akira Back, while donating some amount of the set menu price to pay for a child's monthly tuition fee. It is estimated that a child's tuition fee in Indonesia ranges in IDR 300,000 range. So, if 5 persons order the Lunch Package Menu, a child's tuition fee is already relieved by a month.
Anyway, if the Maths hurt you, let's just talk about the food then now. Obviously, the prices are already worth the food quality and taste, so donating for charity is like a beautiful icing on top of the 'cake'.
Lunch Package Menu (4 course) IDR 250,000++/pax (IDR 50,000 goes to Shout Out) consists of:
- Atlantic Black Cod
- Grilled Hawaiian Walu
- Seared Duck Breast
- Yuzu Granita
For those who observed fasting, the Breakfasting Package Menu (6 course) IDR 700,000++/pax (IDR 100,000 goes to Shout Out) is so worth it!
1st course: Tuna Pizza with ponzu mayo & white truffle oil (photo below). This is my all time favourite menu here and now it comes in individual serving of 4 slices. I ain't sharing with no one!
|2nd Course: Salmon Aburi with micro radish sesame oil & yuzu soy|
|3rd Course: Grilled Hawaiian Walu with micro radish, shiitake mushroom & tosazu butter|
|4th Course: Seared Duck Breast confit with foie gras gyoza, butternut pumpkin & orange mustard miso|
|It's whole chunk of foie gras, wrapped in soft gyoza skin. Chef Andri will not compromise on quality nor quantity, despite the price!|
|5th Course: Grilled Wagyu Tritip with burnt onion pure, duck fat-fried hash brown & onsen tamago. This is still my favourite of all the courses in the set menu. Every components are richly umami and well cooked.|
|Dessert: Yuzu Granita with coconut foam & mango bubbles - a light and easygoing ending after all the indulgents courses!|
