Foodies in Jakarta, for this week only, we will be able to pamper our taste buds with the creation of an American Michelin Star chef, Jarad Gallagher. This novel and special dining event is hosted by Pullman Jakarta Indonesia, at Sana Sini Restaurant from 17 - 22 June 2014.

I mean yeah sure, Michelin Star chefs coming to Indonesia, like it's a big deal, other places has done it too, so what's so special about this one at Pullman?
Well, first of all and for the most obvious reason, it is because Pullman Jakarta Indonesia invited me down to taste the Lunch tasting menu by Chef Jarad. So naturally, I would share the experience with you (which is exactly what you are reading now). Whereas other places did not (invite me), so I won't bother writing a post about it. LOL.
Secondly, this is actually the very first time that Pullman Jakarta Indonesia (or even back then when it was still named Hotel Nikko), hosted such an event. It is always exciting to start what, according to the insights from the Pullman team, will be a regular gig.
Thirdly, from my personal observation, Michelin star events has never been this friendly in terms of pricing. When the average Michelin star set menus cost anything above IDR 1 million, Pullman Jakarta Indonesia is keen to share the experience to a wider group of diners, not just the very high end. So, on top of the 6 course dinner priced at IDR 888,000++ / person, there's the 3 course lunch set menu is priced at IDR 288,000++ / person. The latter is not only reasonably valued, but is also suitable for time constrained business lunch-goers.

Jarad Gallagher is the current Executive Chef at the Michelin Star Chez TJ restaurant in Mountain View, San Francisco, USA. 1st Course - Appetizer
Chilled Asparagus Velouté with textured beef tendon, quail egg and romesco sauce.
An unusual cold appetizer that combines various textures and flavours in various forms. The chilled asparagus velouté (basically a soup), poured over a chunk of crispy beef tendon, quail egg, salmon roe and parmesan cheese cracker.
2nd Course - Main Course
Coffee Flavoured Rack of Lamb with garden roots, caraway & spinach
I had a positive experience with this lamb, it was tender, absent from any unpleasant typical lamb odour. It tasted well with the dark brown gravy made of the meat jus. Well portioned, not too big for a girl.
Sea Trout "Mi Cuit" with peas, alsatian onion tart and tamarind (not pictured)
Grapefruit Consommé of mint, avocado and orange.
3rd Course - Dessert
"Gold Bar" caramel & milk chocolate mousse with coconut sorbet.
This dessert is simply lovely, smooth and melt-in-the-mouth mousse like chocolate 'bar' with rich caramel flavour, served with a side of coconut sorbet and granules which tasted of vanilla. This dessert is very well on the right track.
Should you find yourself pining for more of Chef Jarad's contemprary French dishes, I'd strongly suggest you take the Dinner Set Menu instead. For 6 Course Set Menu (IDR 888,000++ / person), the lineup of dishes are as follows:
- 1st Course: Kampachi Sashimi with caviar, oyster & seaweed
- 2nd Course: Chilled Asparagus Velouté with textured beef tendon, quail egg and romesco sauce (also served at lunch)
- 3rd Course: Sea Trout "Mi Cuit" with peas, alsatian onion tart and tamarind (also served at lunch)
- 4th Course: Foie Gras Mocha with black truffle and gold spuma
- 5th Course: Smoked Rack of Lamb with garden roots, caraway & spinach
- Palate Cleanser: Grapefruit Consommé of mint, avocado and orange (also served at lunch)
- 6th Course: "Gold Bar" caramel & milk chocolate mousse with coconut sorbet (also served at lunch)
There's only a few days left to pamper yourself to this (possibly) once-in-a-lifetime experience, so waste no more time and hit the reservation number below :)
